Mozart - La finta semplice / Hendricks, Blochwitz, Lorenz, D. Johnson, Lind, Schreier is a great recording of one of the earlier Operas written by Mozart. It is under the direction of Peter Schreier. The vocal assembly includes such talents as Barbara Hendricks and Hans Peter Blochwitz to mention a few. Philips Classical Productions have created a massive book-let(244 pages all in all). This contains some very fine photographs of the singers and a strange cover for the album. The essay on the background of the Opera written by Carolyn Gianturco is very well-written and quite informative. So is also the sypnosis written by Rudolph Angermuller. The book-let also contains the text of the entire Opera in 4 different languages. Yes this is not nearly as refined as Mozarts later operas, yet this is after all Mozart and being that it is till a masterpiece compared to what most composers can accomplish. I give this recording 5 well deserved stars.
