Music Review: I had a Will of a Time at Will Rogers Follies!

While the British invasion of Broadway musicals conquered the theatrical scene in the 1990s, Will Rogers Follies was truly an American musical based on the legend and life of Will Rogers played and sung by Keith Carradine. Dee Hoty plays his wife. Anyway, this musical should be revised more often and it seems forgotten original about a very original and American legend, Will Rogers himself. There are some poignant moments but what I remembered best and I listened to the Broadway soundtrack several times was the optimism, happiness, and joy that allowed me to enjoy this musical whether seeing or hearing it on the radio. I will say that it's not my favorite musical of all time. I don't see many Broadway musicals anyway but Will Rogers Follies is enjoyable and I am surprised that it's not played often enough whether regional, local, amateur, or high schools could revise Will Rogers Follies far more than often than they should. Still, there is a bit of humor, country style, and entertainment that is enough to go around. I saw this musical for my college class on American Musical Theatre and it was worth it.
