Music Review: Perfect cafe music

When I originally bought this CD, it was on a whim, without a preview listen, and without too much thought. I soon came to love it, and then started realizing that it (or at least the tracks from it) were being played in all of my favorite cafes, coffee-shops and even Jazz bars/lounges.
Perfect music to have playing in the background while meeting someone new, enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon with a coffee and a book, or even schmoozing with the beautiful people at a funky lounge bar with a martini.
Slide right on in and enjoy.

Limitless Luxury Mach 1.5 The Sound That Surrounds You is the Premier CD release from the trend setting fashoin, design and lifestyle magazine Wallpaper. Produced in conjunction with Sweet Mother Recordings, Seattle, Washington. This CD is a compilation album of kitchy tunes that get you through the day. This CD is the first in a series of releases that will be featured heavily in the June/July '99 issue of the magazine. The CD is beautifully designed in true Wallpaper / Sweet Mother style.The first release in the Limitless Luxury Collection is a high-style collaboration between the lauded lifestyle-design magazine Wallpaper and the Seattle-based label Sweet Mother. Punctuated with surround-sound comfort and panache, Mach 1.5 promotes itself as "a compilation to play while getting dressed." Despite its prescribed listening conditions, the collection showcases some of the best trip-hop, acid jazz, and electro-lounge artists of the day, promising to warm any interior with sounds that rise to accompany the morning routine. With an aural shower of cascading rhythms, percolating melodies, and lustrous vocal treatments, virtually all tracks shimmer in a daybreak glow. Sampled embellishments add elements of funky bossa nova and raga influences to further the moods. Standout tracks by UFO, Thievery Corporation, Doris Day, and Jazzanova augment these diverse styles with elegance. Deviating from downtempo formulas, serene compositions by Air and Ryuichi Sakamoto round out the mix with tracks bordering on Muzak moments.
