Music reviews of Twilight Soundtrack

Music Review: Overall Very Impressed...
Rating: 4 Stars

Having been a big fan of the books, and possibly a bigger fan of the movies, I was ecstatic when I received this album as a gift, and being a huge fan of Paramore, who included two songs on this album, was a massive plus for me. I'll give a little summery of each song on the track listing.
1. Super Massive Black Hole- Muse.
The song by Muse being on the track listing did not surprise me in the least. Meyer has stated more than once that she highly enjoys the band, and I thought the sound fit nicely. You have to pay attention to the lyrics, and read in depth to them in order to see how it fits though. Its not something immediately clear.
2. Decode- Paramore
Paramore defiantly lived up to my high expectations in this song. The one problem is that, in my opinion, the movie does not allow Bella and Edward to show the frustration they experience, stemming from the fact Edward cannot read her mind, and she can't understand why he won't accept that she wants to be with him, regardless of him being a vampire. Honestly though, I don't think ANY movie could have pulled that off. It was an amazing song, vocals and music both being top notch
3. Full Moon- The Black Ghosts
This song was used in the beginning of the movie, when Bella was leaving Phoenix and headed to Forks. As soon as I heard it in the theaters, I knew I wanted to hear more. I was very pleased to find that the tract provides a little bit of mood music, without being overbearing, but like many of the songs on this soundtrack, you have to really pay attention to understand the lyrics.
4. Leave Out All The Rest- Likin Park
I had heard this song on the radio a few times, but never really paid much attention to it. Its one of the highlights for me on the soundtracks, because it just perfectly describes how Edward hopes Bella will not hold him too accountable for the danger he puts her in. It was one of the tracts that I thought captured one of the chief moods in the book, rather than the film.
5. Spotlight (Twilight Mix)- Mute Math
This song is just as the title says. Its a mix of many of the moody elements, combined with a catchy lyrics and beat. Doesn't hold much stock as for what the lyrics mean for the film, but overall, fun to bob your head too.
6. Go All The Way (Into Twilight)- Perry Farrel
This was the song that was playing at the beginning of the prom scene, when Bella and Edward enter the gym and everyone is dancing. That is exactly what this little diddy is, a dance tract, and should be valued no more and no less to the soundtrack than that.
7. Tremble For My Beloved- Collective Soul
This is another tract that provides more mood music than anything else. The lyrics could work for the story line I suppose, but this song, I think, was used in the movie much more for its haunting notes and semi catchy guitar lick. Not a bad listen to. It fits with the mood of the album
8. I Caught Myself- Paramore
I can honestly say, as a very avid listener to this band, this was not one of their best songs. I just didn't think that Hayley Williams (Singer and chief lyricist for the band) put her heart into writing it. Like she didn't think it was all the good of a song, but they had to produce something, so this is what they ended up with. I will say that the lyrics do fit Edward's perspective, almost perfectly, but its less than what I expected of Paramore.
9. Eyes On Fire- Blue Foundation
Another song that lends its strength to the movie, not on a soundtrack. Its a good listen to, but only if you're in that kind of mood. The first time I listened to this album I was playing it while I was driving down the highway, going sixty five. It made my foot ease off the accelerator a bit. Whether it was meant to ease into the less rock part of the album, I'm not sure, but it defiantly eases the tone.
10. Never Think- Rob Pattison
As a player of guitar myself, I can very much appreciate the sweetness of the melody of the acoustic guitar. The lyrics are sweet and sad, but, you can't understand them very well. Sometimes you don't need to, and you can just let yourself go with the melody. Pattison, in my opinion, should stick to acting, rather than singing. Not to say his voice is bad, but I don't think that singing would be a wise career move for him.
11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth- Iron and Wine
This was probably the only song on the album that has not grown on me, then again, this is not really my style of music. Its got a sweet, soft melody, that's perfect for a slow dance, which is when this song was used, in the last scene as Edward and Bella were slow dancing at prom. It fits that scene, but as a stand alone tract on an album, I don't care for it.
12. Bella's Lullaby- Carter Burwell
One of the tracts I was most excited about, and probably the tract that deviates between the mood of the book and the movie the most. Not to say that it makes it a bad tract, because in honesty, its incredibly beautiful. I just don't see it as a lullaby. Maybe if you took out the orchestral instruments it could be, but you're stretching it. Either way, as it is on the soundtrack, its a beautiful ending to an overall amazing album. Normally soundtracks from movies do not satisfy me like this, and I was very pleased with it. A good listen to any day of the week.

Description of Twilight Soundtrack

Twilight is an action packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan has always been a little bit different and when her mother sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she's ever met. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Like all vampires, he's immortal. But he doesn't have fangs, and he doesn't drink human blood. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for: a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward and Bella do when James, Laurent and Victoria, the Cullens' mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her? This is the first movie from the book series from author Stephanie Meyer. The series are currently some of the most popular books written for young adults, with sales exceeding 50 million copies worldwide since the Twilight debut in 2004 and over 7.7 million copies sold in the U.S. alone. The fourth book in the series, Breaking Dawn, was released on August 2, 2008 and sold over 1.2 million units on the first day.
