Music Review: A must have!

A tribute album is for the fans. If you liked a few Sublime songs, then's there's really no point. Then again, these songs do stand as great songs on their own. I think it is great that Sublime has been able to help a lot of other SoCal (and more)artists and more get some recognition (a true Sublime fan will know what I'm talking about). The inclusion of those artists on this album is genious (in my opinion). Those would Be Filibuster and Half Pint, Bargain Music, The Ziggens and Half Pint, all of Which I would have no knowledge of without Sublime. Frank Jordan is also a great band I know from Sublime (Skunk and Cornerstone), but not on this CD. I was surprised not to see Slightly Stoopid on here as well. The only track on here that I'm not that jazzed about is the Greyboy Allstars version of Dion' Time. Don't get me wrong, it's good but I'd rather not hear an instrumental for some reason. I was grateful to see the No Doubt cover of DJs on here, old or not. I saw it once on a No Doubt live video and loved it and wished I could have a copy of the song. Now i do. i was also excited to see Jack Johnson on here as well. he is a great songwriter and I'm sure Sublime fans would like his own stuff. It makes you feel like you should be on a boat (then again, pissed off if you're not, but since it's a great mellow CD (Sitting Waiting Wishing(?) you're not that pissed since the CD is awesome (follow me?). Despite a previous reviewer's opinion of Fishbone (he called it crap!), their "Date Rape" is pretty sweet and is actually psychotic! The Ozomatli, Los Lobos, and Filibuster/Half Pint track are also highly notable. I thought it was great that Half Pint was on the disc. Sublime has 'borrowed' a lot from him. It would have been funny to hear him cover "What I Got" though since that is his song. Has anyone ever done a cover of a cover of their own song before? Hmmm?
Long/short: Great CD!
