Music Review: Bland Interpretations of Tenacious D

I was really looking forward to hearing a Bluegrass Tribute to the hilarious originals, but was really disappointed in the lack of range of The Dust Bowl Cavaliers. Every song sounds pretty much the same, and while it was enough for a few chuckles, it doesn't have a lot of replay value to me. I will be turning back to Tenacious D themselves, or else be picking up a different tribute album in my collection (perhaps Me First and the Gimmie-Gimmies).

Heavy metal with electric guitars? Too obvious. The D doesn't do obvious. And neither does this tribute. The Dust Bowl Cavaliers are perfectly matched like Tango and Cash for these mythological interpretations of Tenacious D's greatest songs.
