Music Review: SEA TURTLES CD Review by Pamela Graboyes

Today is "Take CD To Work" day. The CD of the day is The Sea Turtles recent release. Looking at the pleasing graphics on the jacket --then on to the list of song titles that in themselves set a tempo for various musical expressions about to take place. I.E. some examples of the spectrum: "Pirates", "Nothing We Can Hold", "Painting Fences", "Gently", "Optimistic Man" & Philippians 4:6-7 (to paraphrase:"No Worries"). Then the disc goes into the machine amplifying the Sea Turtles jam of high energy, highly percussive(go Rich!), juicy noodling(go Bob!) and luscious licks(go Jerry!)As the staff and I listened to this backround music at the office, we all sensed the creative fun that these talented, spiritual guys sre having exploring their original music. Looking forward to the next release
Description of The Sea Turtles
Inspired by the jazz traditions of spontaneity, innovation and improvisation, The Sea Turtles move from moody romance, to quirky sci-fi, to jazzy surf, funk and swing - having fun all the while and certainly with no fear of tempo, reverb and maybe even throwing down a little avant-garde on top. They like putting themselves in situations where there are musical challenges and chances to be taken; playing primarily original instrumental songs. The Sea Turtles ride each others individual ideas throughout the songs but somehow know where they are going - and end up with a tight uplifting jazzadelic vibe that's ultimately unique and fun to listen to.General CDs
