I just discovered this album. It ties together a whole load of Tangerine Dream that I've previously heard, both late and early material. Force Majeure (the record before this) was a breakthrough of sorts in making its music swell and pop out. It had a heavier sound, complete with drums, electric guitars and rock rhythms (which for me dragged in associations of contemporaneous groups like Rush). Yet here, TD get the balance brilliantly by reverting back to their trademark pure sequencer and guitar mix - albeit very rhythmic conceived. The mood is dramatic and emotional (especially on 'set 2' which I favor); and the album's more reductive and concise quality make TD's typical expansiveness seem even more mature and timeless here. As far as I'm concerned this is the pick of their lot.
