Music Review: This is an oldie, but a goodie

I ordered A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for one song:That Dirty Old Man, and found myself enchanted with the whole CD. I saw the movie a few years ago on Encore and loved it, and found the CD just as good. If you like old movies and old Broadway shows you will find A Funny Thing delightful.

Zero Mostel, John Carradine, David Burns, Jack Gilford, Ronald Holgate, Ruth Kobart, Brian Davies; can there be a better cast? When this crowd gets into numbers like COMEDY TONIGHT and EVERYBODY OUGHT TO HAVE A MAID, you'll see what I mean. I found this album much better than the movie score album. The original is usually the best, and this album holds true for the songs with vocals, but there are a few sequences from the movie wich are better instrumentally. If you have the money, get both. I really enjoyed the sound quality of this CD. My LP had worn out, especially on my favorite pieces. It was really great to hear "Dirty Old Man" with no skips or scratchy static.
