I just bought myself a lovely electric fireplace from Lowes. I was really wishing for a real woodburning fireplace, but that was just not possible in my current circumstances. While my new electric fireplace is beautiful, it didn't provide the ambience of a real woodburning fireplace. It needed the scent and soothing sounds of real burning wood.
I took care of the missing scent by purchasing pinon, cedar and mesquite incense from Incienso de Santa Fe. I highly recommend their products - super high quality, smells just like I remember pinon, cedar & mesquite smelling.
For the soothing sounds of the crackle of a real fireplace, I got The Crackling Fire CD. It is just perfect, not too loud, not repetitious, just enough variety to be soothing and relaxing, exactly what I hoped for. Now, I come home, turn on the fire, light up some incense, and put the hour long CD on repeat, and I am instantly transported to the warmth and comfort of a real wood burning fire. I have had the fire, incense, and CD going all day long on rainy, cold days, and I forget that the fire is not real.
Until I can get myself a home with a real woodburning, open hearth fireplace, this is as close to sublime joy as I can get, and it is pretty darn close.
By the way, this CD ships from England and I got it in perfect condition in less than a week. I highly recommend this CD to all. I enjoy just hearing it in the background as I hang out at home, and I would enjoy it even if I didn't have the fireplace.
