Music reviews of iSouljaBoyTellem

Music Review: soulja boy best rapper
Rating: 5 Stars

A rapper, producer, gamer, artist, actor, writer and designer. Who is Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, in case you aren't aware. He's a 20-year-old rapper by the name of DeAndre Cortez Way. Soulja boy first started rapping at the age of 14 when he founded "Stacks on Deck Money Gang" entertainment. During his early years, he used to make music, skits, and videos with his fellow classmates including Arab, co-founder of the 30-30 Boyz (which was their group before in 2004 before SODMG was created). When Soulja Boy was just starting out, he made songs for his high school football team, songs about dance moves, songs for his own dances, and music for girls. Once he was done making a song, he would upload it straight to Sound Click (where the music is still posted if you would like to see how the quality, lyrics, and overall music progressed from his early years).

However, he graced the scene over 3 years ago with his hit single Crank That! A young multi-talented artist who has accomplished so much for someone of his age. The youngest that is to write, perform and produce a number one song. Mixture of love and hate came from all different directions - saying he would be just a one-hit wonder - he's ruining hip-hop - etc. However, DeAndre Way proved his haters wrong - when he thought like an executive. Branding and opening up his own website market - not just to give his fans but everyone a place to come and communicate. He signed an endorsed shoe deal with Yums, and he made sure to keep his name in the streets. With his buzz, booming you could find little kids to your grandmothers Crankin That (Soulja Boy). He released his first major album SouljaBoyTellEm.com in the fall of 2007, with singles such as Donk, Yahhh!, and Soulja Girl. Most songs were written and produced by the rapper himself. His first hit record - Crank That landed him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song - but sadly he did not win.

By the year 2009, he released his second major album iSouljaBoyTellem on December 16th, 2008! With singles such as Bird Walk, Turn My Swag On, and Kiss Me Thru The Phone with R&B sensation Sammie. He previously went on and headlined major tours with artists such as Bow Wow and Chris Brown. Soulja Boy performed at award shows such as the BET Hip Hop Awards where he was also a host, the VMAs, and Spring Bling. The superstar even branded and marketed his own record label, SODMG - adding artists such as Arab and JaBar. Even landing his first artist Jabar to get a major record deal - and a feature on his first major single Daze. With a host of mixtapes under his beat - Soulja Boy was destined to show and prove to the world he was capable of making an even bigger hit then Crank That. He released his first single Pretty Boy Swag in the summer of 2010, for his upcoming album, The DeAndre Way. Just like his first single - everyone remixed and made their own versions to the song. It was very clear that he brought the word "Swag" back to life with his new single. Gearing up for the release of his third major album - Soulja Boy wanted the title to be close and personal changing the title from "Dre" to The Deandre Way. He released the second official single Blowing Me Kisses (video is set to premiere on BET 106 & Park show on Wednesday 9/29/10) featuring song writer, artist and producer Bei Maejor and another single off the album he released via his Twitter page, Mean Mug featuring 50 Cent. (However, you can also find the solo version on his 'Death Note Mixtape', which was released earlier this year)! The DeAndre Way is stated to hit stores on November 2nd, 2010.

After reading all that you can say for him to be only 20 years old, he has accomplished so much as a young artist. His strive and his drive had proved that his career would go a lot farther as the years continue. He has not allowed himself to be dug down into the entertainment world like so many other hip-hop artists - he stands on top of the mountain where he continues to strive for nothing but the best. A talented artist who inspire so many young children to adults. Unlike many other artists he takes the time out of his daily life to tweet his fans, chat with them, and even host a TinyChat room for them - showing his fans love and appreciation. When reaching over 2 million followers on Twitter - he recorded and created a video called 2 Milli dedicated to all of his fans. You have no choice but to love the person he has grown to be. As he states in 2 Milli "You don't got to like him but please respect him" - many people don't like him because their envious of whom he has become. He proved to be more than a static in the music industry. More then what people claimed he would be. So people get jealous when they see him living the life they only can dream about. When in reality they should be thanking Soulja Boy - for opening up the door - and allowing this new style of rap and hip- hop come alive.

When you sit back and actually think about how much he has accomplished in so little time - why wouldn't someone look up to a artist like him. He once said he would not use profanity in any of his songs anymore because he wanted to set a good example and be a good role model for the little kids that look up to him. From the first time he stepped into the entertainment business until today in the year of 2010, you can see that he has grown a lot mentally & physically. He has the songs that can attract different audiences - the songs for the woman - your meditation songs and the ones you can play inside the club. It would be very hard for another artist to accomplish as much as he did and especially since Soulja Boy has many different styles. Not once will you ever listen to his songs and hear the same theme repeatedly, and not many artists can say they wrote & produced their platinum selling album - yet along their first major album at that. Not too many artists can say they put out three different mixtapes at the same time either.

Not only is Soulja Boy an artist but he's also an anime designer. How many rappers do you know can say they love to draw - and have an artistic side? If not none at all - not too many artists can say that. He loves anime and cartoons so much he was even inspired by a 'Dragon Ball Z' Character to create his song called Goku. I found out in 2008 - That his uncle/cousin inspired him to get into doing animations, beats etc. I also asked him who was the artist that most inspired him and whom he looks up to and he said 50 Cent - that also was the answer to who was the one artist (dead or alive) whom he would like to work with. (Like stated earlier - 50 Cent is making an appearance on his newest album on the song titled Mean Mug.

A multi-talented rapper with a huge versatile style. Walking around with over 100 tattoos placed on his body. Soulja Boy is very loving and kind hearted; he looks out for his family, friends, and fans. Makes sure his parents are living right, and that his sister and brothers are all getting good birthday and Christmas presents. DeAndre finds it funny how he notices more and more kids at his house during the holidays saying they're `with the family'. Last year when Soulja Boy was 19; he gave his dad an orange Lamborghini as an early Christmas present, then stated "he s***ed on himself". He is quite a character as he loves living the good life, and making short films to keep his fans entertained. Back in 2008, he also participated in `Toyz n Da Hood", where he handed out Christmas presents to those who are less fortunate, because he knew what it felt like before he turned into a the self made millionaire that he is today. Soulja Boy also mailed free Gunnars and t-shirts to 10 selected fans last year.

To actually watch someone grow up online by watching YouTube videos, listening to their music, and communicating with him, is an amazing aspect that Soulja Boy followed completely. You actually see the rapper going to Wal-Mart to mess around, dancing with friends, playing volleyball with his family, then one year later see him on the red carpet at the Grammy's. It's incredible how far one can get with a mic and the internet. And he's not all about awards, he stated how "just to be nominated is a great accomplishment". This rapper at the age of 17, had every high school in America doing his dance whether it was babies, kids, teens, teachers, parents, the elderly, the homeless, EVERYONE knows how to the `Soulja Boy dance'.

How can you hate on a self-made superstar, "numbers don't lie", if he wasn't good, he wouldn't have the number one song in the country for about two months, his album would have never went platinum, he wouldn't be nominated for so many awards, selected for award performances, or had the opportunity to perform in front of 40,000+ people. Soulja Boy worked for what he has and is grateful to each and every one of his fans for supporting him. He even leaks his own songs so fans know what they're getting, he is the artist that makes you want to go out and buy his music rather sitting in front of the computer and downloading it.
DeAndre Way aka Soulja Boy Tell `Em is the best rapper.

Description of iSouljaBoyTellem

Soulja Boy Tellem's highly anticipated follow-up to Souljboytellem.com (Collipark Music/Interscope). Soulja Boy Tell'em hit the ground running promoting his debut album which led to record setting performances for ringtones (more than 5.3 million downloads), YouTube views (over 300,000,000 views) and an incredible seven-week run at the top of the "Hot 100" chart with the Grammy-nominated single "Crank That (Soulja Boy).Such staggering stats easily made Soulja Boy Tell'em the top new artist of 2008.

Soulja Boy Tell'em follows this mega success with the highly anticipated iSouljaboytellem, produced by Soulja Boy Tell'em, with assistance from super-producer Mr. Collipark (Young Jeezy, Yin Yang Twins, Pitbull) and Polow Da Don (Ludacris, Fergie, Jamie Foxx, Ciara). The first single, "Birdwalk," follows the successful formula mined by "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," with another sure-fire infectious sing-along chant. "Birdwalk" hits the airwaves this week, with the accompanying video scheduled to debut shortly thereafter. Other stand-out tracks include "Yamaha Mama" (produced by fellow Atlanta native Polow Da Don), featuring Sean Kingston, and the street anthem "Turn My Swag On" which will be accompanied by a viral music video.

"I'm more than ready to release the follow-up to `souljaboytellem.com', I know my fans are ready too." comments Soulja Boy Tell'em. "I have so much more in store this time around with a shoe and clothing deal, an animated series and some special surprises I can't talk about yet. I'm going to continue to keep up the momentum through 2009, so plan on seeing me all over the internet on your favorite websites and blogs with my new videos and updates on where I'm at and what I am doing. You are not going to be able to get away from Soulja Boy Tell'em...YUUUAAAAA!"

Soulja Boy Tell'em's high visibility enabled the rapper to sign a major deal with Yums Shoes to personally design his own sneakers under the company's "Block Star" line. The first line of sneakers will roll out in November, 2008, and feature a distinctive street feel with colorful graffiti art emblazoned on the soles of each sneaker. The deal also features clothing apparel specifically designed by Soulja Boy Tell'em in conjunction with Yums' designer and one of the south's biggest graffiti artists Tex. In addition, look out for an animated series created by Soulja Boy Tell'em that will be launching on his Soulja Boy Tell'em website in November.
