Music Reviews of Ruby VroomMusic Review: Favorite CD ever Rating: 5 Stars
This is simply my favorite CD ever. I honestly listen to it nearly everyday. Soul Coughing is an incredible band, and they greatly influence music that I write. I don't think there could be another band like them. Great drum and bass rythms, intelligent and funny lyrics, and the most creative use of a sampler I've heard. Definately 5 stars.
Music Review: Don't try to make sense of it all Rating: 5 Stars
Like a Salvador Dahli painting, set to motion with broken back beat and easy laid back vibe. I've had it for about 3 months, and like it more with each listen. Each time I find something that wasnt there before, and my fav track changes almost as frequently. This album has sold me on every album they ever make. BTW his name is Mike!
Music Review: Spoken Word, Groovy Bass, Hypnotic Sampling, and Motion Rating: 5 Stars
What's not to like? This album changed my life as a musician. Doughty's lyrics are incredible along with a strong instrumental base. These guys know what music is about. My opinion is that this album is the best of the three, which is a tough competition. The band has dispersed since then so Buy it before it's too late.
Music Review: See them live, buy the album. Rating: 5 Stars
You need to see them live before you can truly appreciate the groove that throbs beneath the ultra-cool lyrics. Then buy the album and feel each song grow on you like the most comfortable jeans you ever owned. Totally quotable art funk, without taking itself too seriously, without concealing its intelligence.
Music Review: One of the best albums of the 1990's Rating: 5 Stars
I cannot think of another recording that sounds better and fresher after hundreds of plays than this one. The layers and textures in the music and lyrics make it one of the great recordings of this decade. If you could only have a few CDs on a desert island, this should be one of them.
