I like it, but I think most will find it too slow. It seems like it will be fine for background music.

Part of the American South's enduring heritage is the rich tradition of hymns and spirituals that have been popular for many generations--sung at church, at revivals, at camp meetings, and around the home.In this collection of solo piano improvisations, Jim Gibson brings a unique approach to these old classic tunes. It is usually quiet, but sometimes you'll hear the power of an old-time gospel pianist in the fervor of a revival service.
Jim Gibson has developed the unusual ability to blend several styles together into a very melodic and relaxing mix. The previous two CDs in this series have been extrememly popular, and this recording will join them in keeping this part of Southern history alive for new generations.
If you like great old hymns and spirituals, and appreciate consummate--but always melodic--piano-playing, you'll enjoy this recording.
Of course, these hymns were popular in other parts of the country, but it was (and is) in the South that these traditional hymns and spirituals flourished--and often the South is where they were created, too.
