Music Review: Classic obscure hard rock- glad I got it cheaper than this.

This is another example of a great band that never made it big. So many wonderful bands got lost on major labels that didn't seem to know how to promote them. Savage Grace wasn't strictly a hard rock band, but had more melodic tendencies which required attentive listening. The first album in particular is a classic, with a mix of hard rocking originals and mellower jams that flow from start to finish. "1984" is a fantastic rocker not to be confused with the Spirit tune by the same name. "Savage Grace II" was the harder rocking album of the two overall, but the self-titled album had the superior songs, in my opinion. Both albums were staples in the bargain bins years ago, and this is a very welcome reissue. One thing I always liked about Savage Grace is that they never lock into the same sound, and always experimented with different types of songs and structures. "Turn Your Head" is a majestic rocker which is one of the great lost early 70's songs that should be right up there with "Stairway to Heaven" in a perfect world. Worth purchasing, definitely.
