Music Review: Lovely

What a lovely, lovely album. As I learned by reading the reviews of A Fine Frenzy, I think it's unfair to compare every female singer-songwriter to the masters -- Bareilles is no Tori Amos, it's true, but I don't think it's fair to make her out to be. For unlike A Fine Frenzy, she's not *trying* to be excruciatingly profound with every lyric. And I get no relation to Fiona Apple whatsoever, and frankly, it's unfair to hold that against her: She's not Fiona Apple. But so what? She's doing exactly what she's meant to: singing lovely, fluffy, gorgeous jazzy pop with a smoky, rich tone to her voice, which is truly impressive in range.
It's poppy, it's fun, it's catchy and it's ultimately beautifully done. I was unexpectedly thrilled.
Music Review: Not just a great CD, but an awesome Album.

Every song on this album is great. Each one could build a career, each one could be a single. They span a myriad of emotions and moods, but all run rife with the amazingly amazing vocal prowess of a girl whose voice is anything but little. 'Between the Lines' affects me as the saddest, most beautifully bittersweet pleasure for my ears. And songs I thought of as already complete from her independent release "Careful Confessions" (find it if you can and buy it at any price!) have matured considerably, and leave your ears tingling between every track.
She is as smart as she is funny as she is beautiful as she is rapturous in song. All that comes through in this little bitty jewel case.

Music Review: Beautiful voice!

This isn't going to be a very sophisticated review; nor is it necessarily objective. I loved the CD mostly because I really enjoy her voice; I find it nice and mellow and fun to listen to in the car. I heard her first on the Napster commercial and decided I had to have her CD, pure and simple. Little known artists need all the help they can get in the form of CD sales, so any type of illegal download is out of the question. I think America has to vote with their wallets in this type of situation.
And yes, I do believe others will enjoy her music as well, although I understand this style is not for everyone. So, if you liked her sound-bite on the commercial, you won't be disappointed by buying the full version.

Sara Bareilles' major label debut is everything a music fan could want in an album - smart, sassy and thoughtful lyrics; catchy melodies; a strong and rich voice; great piano playing; and a tiny pinch of profanity.
I bought this album after I heard "Come Round Soon" and "Love Song" on the Internet. I immediately tore open the wrapping and struggled with the casing stickers and jammed the cd into my car stereo. I listened to the entire disc right there in my parked car. It's one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. I still listen to her nearly every day and the music still makes me feel everything I did when I first heard it.
Don't let this amazing release pass you by.
Music Review: Surprised I Was

Honestly, I'm not sure why I ordered this CD. I heard Love Song on the radio, and wanted it. I don't really like not having a hard copy of my music, so I guess that's why I opted for this whole album. Let me tell you, I'm glad I did.
It took a couple listens, but she quickly grew on me. I now don't often listen to the song which drew me in, and her slower songs are much more powerful. I specifically listen to Between the Lines, City, and Gravity most often. She really has a great voice. You won't find too much clever writing here, but it's still a great album with a good sound.
I'd recommend listening to some of her songs from this album. If you like what you hear, then buy it.
