Music Review: Great Songs of the Not-so Old West

This CD was a Christmas gift for my father that I've yet to hear myself, as I live abroad, but I can safely give it 5 stars on the strength of feedback from family members. Specifically mentioned were the high quality of the re-mastering and the polished professionalism of the performances. Sweetly nostalgic, this collection of songs from an era that romanticized the "Old West" really did hit the mark, in spite of a wide range of individual musical tastes. Three generations of my family actually sang along to "Red River Valley" together. I don't think anyone could say there's a single duff track on the album.
(I think they actually phoned me to ask what Roy Rogers' dog's name was. I immediately thought: "Bullet"?...)
