Music Review: Different on the third hearing

I at first shared the view of another reviewer who commented that 'East of the River' lacked the energy of Robin's earlier album, 'Revival in Belfast'. After the third or fourth listening, though, the distinction became vague and I began to listen more deeply to the lyrics. Now I recognise it is a different album - not another in a series. Spiritually I find 'East' more uplifting whereas I would say 'Revival' is more energising.
The Irish strains are not interludes in this album - they are more a part of the fabric of the music than I recall in Robin Mark's earlier albums.
