Music Review: Still not a great album
Rating: 3 Stars
For those wondering if the few new tracks help improve the album, the answer is not really.
* Devil Hole Girls & The Big Revolution: sounds just like a typical Zombie song, but not something that will stand out above all, it's a decent 3 star track, but still not that great Zombie track you are looking to hear.
* Them for a big angry red planet: An extension of something, I think the Jesus Frankenstein intro or something. It's only an instrumental that goes just over a minute, not a bad tune, but again, not the stand out track you are hoping to find from Zombie. 3 stars
* Everything is boring. Now we're talking, this tracks worth hearing. Typical Zombie, repeated chorus lyrics, roaring guitars. Not his best effort or one of his go nuts kind of party songs, but a decent one none the less.
* Man who laughs last (new version) - Sounding a little different this time around. Same rockin' guitars with those orchestral violins and full back up vocals but the break down is instead of that drum solo thing, an acoustical break down then back into full amps up chorus. ***
*Micheal - Ominous intro with that talk over sample from the Halloween movie. Into a rough deep sounding singing voice kinda like House of 1000 corpses. Not bad, ***
Overall, I still say it's not his best solo effort, but a few decent tracks to be found to rock to.
I didn't find the new additions much of an improvement to the album, I guess it adds a little to it, but i'd still recommend the first 3 Zombie solo albums over this one. There just isn't that absolute killer track to be found. Sick Bubblegum is still the best track to be found on it.
DVD
The extra DVD is something that you will watch once, and never again probably. The footage of Zombie with Alice doing "Schools Out" is great, but the live clip and the supposed documentary, which I found to just be random shots of things in a bore-fest that lasted for about 20 mins is something I will never waste my time sitting through again. Take note that Amazon lists it as 19 tracks, no, it is 3, 1 live clip, which isn't live, the footage is, the live video of schools out with Zombie and Alice, and then the pathetic documentary thing, which is not a documentary, that plays snippets of most of the songs, live or not, and the rest as i already said, is just pointing a hand held camera at boring things, then doing it over and over and over again for 30 minutes of your life you will never get back watching it. If you ever find yourself watching it, and think "i feel like turning it off, but maybe it will get better... no, it doesn't, just turn it off, unless you love footage of completely boring things.
