Music Review: Another Great Album From The Best Punk Band Of The 2000's!

I think Rise Against has clearly been the best punk band of the last 9 or 10 years, which started with The Unraveling(which was actually released in 1999) and has continued up until this album. Each of their albums is great and for different reasons, and the greatness of this album is clearly the melody! This album is their most melodic to date, and has strong Bad Religion influences in most of the tracks! Their is not as much screaming on this album, which is not a bad thing because Tim McIlrath has one of the best voices ever in the punk genre. Their is also not really any straight up hardcore songs as on the first few records. The album starts off with a bang(like all RA records) with Collapse(Post Amerika) which is a very fast punk song with very meaningful lyrics about the environment! Long Forgotten Sons is a bit slower and much more melodic, with yet again very meaningful lyrics, the whole album has meaningful lyrics, and although I don't agree with all of their political and social opinions, I certainly respect them and applaud them on showing their political beliefs, but not talking down to their fans or trying to "teach them" like Anti-Flag and other political punk bands do! The first single from the album and a very good song is Re-Education(Through Labor) it is also a fast, head banging song like track 1. The Dirt Whispered is pretty much a pop-punk song, but not the Blink 182 or Mxpx type, but the Bad Religion type! Track 5 Kotov Syndrome is probably the fastest song on the album with a killer punk breakdown in the middle of the song that any punk fan will love, definitely one of the best on the album. Other highlights from the album are Audience of One, which is the most melodic song on the album, and probably my favorite, a great, great song! Savior is another of the best songs on the album with probably the best chorus on the album, fast and awesome song. Hairline Fracture is a mid-tempo song with a very melodic chorus, definitely one of the better songs on the album. And lastly, the last track Whereabouts Unknown is by far the hardest track on the album with a very hard-driving bassline and riff and also some great screaming by Tim and ends the album on a real high-note! Overall, another great album from a great band, if you liked their last few albums you should like this one, its obviously more like Siren Song and The Sufferer than Unraveling and Revolutions! There is not a bad song on the album! Highly recommended to all Rise Against fans, fans of melodic punk, and fans of Bad Religion!
