For Wagner fans these recordings are well known. The "team" of Fladstad & Melchior is unsurpassed to this day... there have been other excellent Wagnerian sopranos.. but never a Melchior, although recently Placido Domingo has come on late in his career with some excellent singing.

This recording captures these two great artists very near, if not in, their prime singing years. This recording, therefore, sets a standard for the duets to which all others will be measured.
