Music Review: Springer Redeemed - "Jerry" Swings!

Jerry Springer's TV talk show may be gut-loathsome and detestable, but you have to give him credit for giving this work his blessing!
As one who thinks of the "NibelungenRing" as a gorgeous piece for orchestra (and its singers as downright heroic), but a truly idiotic story on which to base one's national pride (sort of a cross between "Star Wars" and "The Young and the Restless"), "Jerry Springer - the Opera" made me consider that pole dancers, coprophiliacs, and trashy philanderers may be at least as passionate and worthy of musical dramatization as Wagner's klugscheisserischer (um, 'fallible') Teutonic gods.
This is less a parody than a philosophical extension of the talk show everyone loves to hate; also, I can hardly wait to hear more from this composer. Thank heaven "Jerry" finally made it to Carnegie Hall for two performances this past January, even if the London recording is better sung. The audience had a ball.
My favorite cut: "F*** You Talk", in which Satan meets up again with Jesus after some two millennia and finds himself tongue-tied for about three & 1/2 minutes...for Handel fans,with a GLORIOUS payoff!!
