Music Reviews of Gossip in the GrainMusic Review: Ray Lamontagne Rating: 5 Stars
I had never heard of Ray until I heard his song "Let It Be Me" played on Private Practice. He is truly a gifted singer and I don't believe he is being promoted the way he should be! His songs are so touching. I bought all 3 of his CD's. I just wish he had more on CD than he does. I would highly recommend this singer to anyone.
Music Review: Ray is in love :( Rating: 3 Stars
Okay okay, I'm not being mean...I loved the two prior albums, gritty, moody and well...G** dam sore looser.
It's just now it seems like he's fallen in love, and of course wants the whole world to know. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not the Ray I admired.
Great gift for a girl friend!!
Music Review: Grows on you Rating: 4 Stars
1st time I heard it didn't appeal at all. I think I was expecting something else? I still can't classify his music and I don't think I care to try-not really blues...Urban Folk? I will just enjoy it as the nice change of pace that it is; interesting and good ride music. Listen to samples before you buy.
Music Review: Ray is Right On Rating: 5 Stars
Gossip in the Grain is a great CD. The music is both relaxing and energizing. La Montagne's voice is one of kind. His lyrics are smart, witty, sad, sharp, lyrical, and pertinent. Everyone I've played the CD for has really enjoyed it even though none of them had ever heard of La Montagne before.
Music Review: Good Album...but not his best Rating: 4 Stars
If you are a Ray Lamontagne fan, this album is enjoyable, but not his best. It took me a few days to really warm up to this album, since I think his previous two were so good. In the end, I do enjoy this album, but definately not as much as his first two albums. Still, a good album for his fans.
