Music Review: Gettysburg...A great score!

Gettysburg. Originally released in 1993, the movie "Gettysburg" was a hit from the start, with the soundtrack as one of the major fetes in the success of the film. This soundtrack is very inspiring and motivating. Using a modern orchestra to record the soundtrack, Edelman did a very good job bringing out the battle scenes with the music. Music such as "Battle of Little Round Top" and "The First battle" are tracks that bring out the tension of battles, while tracks such as the main title, "Fife and Gun", and "March to Mortality" are not as tense, but depict the struggles of war. Much of the music on Gettysburg is written with guitar, flute, drums, and fife, making it sound as if you are really on the battlefield. The main title is a mix of strings, snare drums, and brass, while tracks like "Fife and Gun" use the guitar and fife as the primary instruments, making it blend into a great musical sound. This soundtrack is probebly one of my favorites when it comes to war scores, but then again, this soundtrack was not written to depict glory of war, but to show how gloomy war can really be. This soundtrack has a gorgeous main title, and many other tracks, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to give this soundtrack a try. Other music on Gettysburg are actual songs used in the Civil War, such as "Dixie". The second release version of Gettysburg, "More songs and music from Gettysburg", contains lots of historic music.
