Music reviews of Rancid

Music Review: THEY'RE 5 Stars

After the awsome ska/punk record life wont wait, rancids back to show you how to play real punk and they dont just play ska/reggae. Simply rancid's best. And out come the wolves, lets go, and there first self titled were great. But this is a masterpiece.
Don giovanni-4/5-good song, kicks your ass.
Disgruntled-5/5-this seems to flow with don giovanni, since they're both so short. Awsome, pumping, rageing, punk
It's quite alright-5/5-catchy, but very punk. Sounds kind of like stuff from lets go.
Let me Go-5/5-Blew me away when i first heard it. Its like lets go stuff, but twisted with hardcore.
I am forever-5/5-Lars has the most hardcore screaming voice ever. Simply amazing song.
Poisen-5/5- This song is so cool because it's one of the hardest songs on the album, but it's catchy. Thats why rancid is genius. They can make songs like that.
Loki-4/5-Another totally hardcore song. Its sung by lars, and is not catchy at all, but somehow, i still find myself singing along(or screaming).
Blackhawk down-4/5-Very catchy, but not to interesting. its preety cool, but the chorus is not interesting enough lyrically.
Rawnda-4.5/5-This sounds like it could be off and out come the wolves. Thats not a bad thing, the wolves is one of my favorite albums of all time. It's just kinda out of place.
Corruption-4/5-another screaming fit from lars. Completely awsome. and matt does a part also. Sweet.
antennas-4.5/5-friggin awsome. Softest song on the album, but that doesn't mean a ballad. It means some of it doesn't have a blazing duel guitar attack. Some of it. Really cool with simplistic yet true lyrics about corruption in the media.

Rattlesnake-4.5-Its so good. Amazing guitar part. At first i thought it was dumb, but then i listend to the lyrics and theyre really good. I love this song.
Not to regret-4.5/5-Really awsome song sung by lint. It's soooo cool. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 is that Lint's voice is really strained and raspy and messed up on this, which get kind of annoying. Whatever. Awsome song.
Radio Havana-4/5-Great song, would of been great on the Wolves or Life wont wait. Incredibly catchy, a little out of place on this cd. As a song, one of rancids best, but on such a hardcore cd, its out of place. It kinda breaks the action.
axiom-5/5-another screamer from lars that is a classic mosh pit anthem. it startes with an awsome bass solo rivaling the one of maxwell murder(i like the maxwell murder bass solo better.)
Black derby jacket-5/5-. Really awsome song. and matt sings it. IT wouldn't of worked with Tim singing it. This song is so perfect. I adore it. it is truly amazing, i love matts vocals. They should use his voice more. the only problem is that his bass riffs arnt as good as they could have been if he wasnt singing.
Meteor of war-4/5-Awsome. Every time i hear it it seams average, but then a crave to hear it later. I guess that means its growing on me.
Dead bodies-5/5-This is lars at his best. NOt very catchy, just hardcore, awsomeness. Best song on the cd. Undiniably rancids best pit anthem ever. Lars rocks.
Rigged on a fix-5/5-Cool song sung by matt. its really energizing especially at the part that goes "ITS TRUE, YOUR THROUGH, F**K YOU." Everyone gives a combined shout on the f you. Maybe thats not that cool, but i like it. Great song.
Youn al capone-4.5/5-Lars sings this cept it aint hardcore. Watever. cool bass. really cool song. A really fun one.
Reconciliation-5/5-another sung by matt. all of matts songs are awsome on this cd. His voice is so cool.
ggf-5/5-not much of a song. Although it has a chorus, its more of a story. The highlight is as the cd ends, tim(lint) goes "Okay this is Lint sighning off for now. Till next time, we'll se you guys later!" I think that thats the best way to end a cd. It almost brought a tear to my eye.

unfortunatly the next time i saw them was on mtv play a pop song called fall back down with good charolette. I almost died. I was happy to find that their new album was actually pretty good, and it was just that song that sucks. Okay go get this album. Keep listening to it until you love it. Takes a while to get into if your not used to hardcore rancid. But belive me, this is there best.

Description of Rancid

All products are BRAND NEW and factory sealed. Fast shipping and 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.
Albums that make Amazon.com's yearly "best of" list are sometimes judged using high-falutin' artsy talk. Rancid has landed on the list because it compelled editors to scribble anarchy symbols in public hallways, buy skateboards, and start punk bands. Twenty-two songs, 39 minutes, and not one wasted second. A pure punk joyride with the throttle wide open. --S. Duda
Critics love to toss spitballs at Rancid. After all, they say, Rancid have sold out; Rancid aren't punk enough; Rancid don't stand for anything; Rancid can't play and they certainly can't sing; Rancid rip off the Clash at every turn, etc. While Rancid have certainly wrestled with all of these catcalls, one high-volume spin of Rancid is more than enough to convince even the most self-righteous punk that the pride of the Bay Area are back with a ragged vengeance. Gone are the reggae, ska, and dub experiments of Life Won't Wait; in their place is a furious attack of guitars, yelling, and more guitars.

From its cover to the mostly illegible lyric sheet to the chaos inside, Rancid is paint-peeling punk rock of the highest order. Most of the 22 songs on this recording clock in at well under two minutes, and there are absolutely no ballads. Guitars are driven to within inches of meltdown, the bass careens just barely in control, and vocals are delivered with raging conviction and sometimes even a touch of melody.

No, the notes aren't always right, and nothing here is presented with polish or precision, but what Rancid might lack in virtuoso technique they more than make up for in intensity. Songs like "Antennas" and "It's Quite Alright" are lean, tough, and gritty. This recording never lets up, never takes a breath, and never compromises. That's punk. --S. Duda
