Music Review: A LETTER FROM PRINCE CHARMING

In 1998 Prince Charming rocketed across the midnight sky in an infernal flying machine of his own construction; an outlandish vehicle as buoyant as a bumble bee, but accursed with a crew of pirates and backstabbers; While Fantastic Voyage is a wonderful travelogue of musical mayhem, the explosive and pyrotechnic ending is forever lost.
BTW: Prince Charming stopped working with Philosophy Major AKA music critic Denis Desharnais in early 02. I have nothing to do with that dude. While Fantastic Voyage does include production work from Lovecraft Technologies (and a number of other musicians), it is a PRINCE CHARMING CD. Those looking for a Lovecraft Tech CD should search for a CD titled to LT.
Description of Fantastic Voyage
The Detroit-bred electronic maestro Prince Charming has gained a great deal of strength from his mysterious, contrived role as a "modern romantic." On his second solo effort, the good Prince reveals a suave talent for innovative sampling, lurid innuendo, subliminal beats, and psychotronic mixology. While Charming brings a subtle, ambient techno demeanor to his sonic collage of trip-hop, dub, and kaleidoscopic soul Muzak, the DJ-producer also injects a fair amount of drama into the proceedings. A layered and lush studio project that succeeds both as background music and as an avant-garde listening experience, Fantastic Voyage is a challenging head trip. Using hushed voices whispering seductively amid salsa rhythms and pure white noise, Charming and his confederates may have constructed the ideal make-out album for the year 2000. --Mitch MyersStyles CDs
