Music Reviews of Roseland NYC LiveMusic Review: Beautiful live album Rating: 5 Stars
Portishead and an orchestra? That's insanely beautiful. Classical meets modern in this CD. What I really like is that they chose my favorite songs from both Dummy and self-titled...all are xquisite and beautiful. The reworking of Sour Times is sweet as hell, mor spaghetti western vibes in it. The clapping in Roads (my fave Portishead song) does kinda mess it up, but it still is cool. Glory Box is just plain incredible. Strangers is a beautiful ending to the album. All in all, this album is incredible.
Music Review: Truly amazed Rating: 5 Stars
This has to be one of the best live CDs I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Typically I wouldn't recommend a live CD to a new fan, but this is different. I listen to this disc much more than the studio albums. Something about working with a live orchestra brings out the nuances and subtleties of the music. The DVD is exceptional too and contains additional songs and some different versions of the songs on the CD.
This is one of my favorite albums of the last couple of years.

Music Review: Terrific concert!! Rating: 5 Stars
This disc was the first one I heard from Portishead. After a couple of listenings I was kind of confused about the rhythms, voice tones, samplers and musical instruments. At the end you would love all this stuff and how they have conceptualized the idea of music without barriers, without all that common rhythms that have appeared in music history. I would strongly recommend this disc for every one who has never listened to Portishead, it is the starting point to enjoy all their creations.
Music Review: EXCELLENT! Rating: 5 Stars
I think this c.d is absolutely excellent in every possible way.Portishead is such an awesome group, and especially with her beautiful voice, and tranquil music this c.d is the best!Portishead is a terrific group and I would LOVE to see them in concert.I love this c.d so much because the music is so different, but not different in a bad way, different as in not trying to copy others, they have their own style and their own music and I respect that so much.I recommend this c.d to everyone!
Music Review: A haunting album... Rating: 5 Stars
I think its funny that in half of these reviews, everyone knocks live albums. Live music is the BEST way to experience music, not some CD that has been mixed all to hell. Anyway, this album is tremendously eerie. Beth's voice is so unique, with simple trip-hop style beats, and with an orchestra to accent. Excellent album, and don't believe what all these people are saying about live music. Go see Phish and you will never say a negative thing about live music again.
