Music Review: Nice CD

I bought this CD used as a Christmas gift for my mother, per the recommendation of a girlfriend. I had the perception (from "Hey There Dehlia") that this was a girl's band. I had nothing to do the one day so i popped it into the CD player while I read some law books (my passion) and was surprised by what I heard. "Take Me Away" had me humming along and singing. It was a real surprise and I found I liked it. I am usually not a fan of emo stuff, although I am not one of those people who falls into music genres. I listen to tons of classical and a lot of rock (like Simple Plan, Yellowcard) and was surprised by how much I liked the Cd. I must say I am not really a fan of "Hey There Dehlia"- i guess I do not get the song. It seems like one of those proverbial chick love songs that are annoying because of their proliferation of the airwaves. I would say if you think this is a girly band, like I did, get the CD and listen to their other songs. Hey there Dehlia is a definitely girly song but the rest is good music. As a teen I think it is a younger person's band but it could have appeal to everybody.
Overall it was a great listen. It is one of the bands that is nice to listen to when you just want to relax but are not in the mood for some classical music. It is just relaxing. It is the type of band that you listen to you when cracking out a good novel- I would say it goes with Thoreau and Hemingway. I still reserve classical for nonfiction as I think this could get distracting when reading a good book on a supreme court case or law.
