Music Review: The true art of the violin

If you are concerned that the budget price of this collection means a budget performance, don't be. Mela Tenenbaum gives a wonderful performance, the result of decades long saturation in the manuscripts, that turns the difficult solo capriccios into music that any lover of Baroque violin will treasure. The ensembles are all first rate, which you can hear especially in the Largos of No.7-9. The recording is very able and clear, with a warm sound. This is a fine example of Locatelli at his most complex and most elegant.
