Music Reviews of Slanted & Enchanted: Luxe & ReduxeMusic Review: Give it a Try Rating: 5 Stars
I actually bought this album without actually listening to any of it before hand. I bought it because all of the music magazines raved about it and it was a good price and I decided to give it a try. At first I did not care for it too much but with repeat listening it grows on you. Months after, I bought Crocked Rain, Crocked Rain which is there best album and then I Bought the other studio albums and I like them all but wowwe zowwe is a mix bag but it is still a lot better than alot of the rock albums release today. If you like Sonic Youth but do not like how long there songs are and the anoying guitars you would like this album. And if you like Velvet Underground then you will love this album.

I'm not sure how retroactively Pavement's status as definitive indie rock band of the 90s has been awarded but it seems like they became a much bigger deal after they broke up than they ever were when they were together. This debut album could hold it's own against the albums Unrest and Sebadoh released around the same time, but Dinosaur Jr, Yo La Tengo, Buffalo Tom, Sonic Youth, Swervedriver, Superchunk and Archers Of Loaf were making similar more substancial albums. This could be a worthwhile doucment of how ramshackle indie rock can get while still being tuneful some of the time, but it's not a genre landmark or a satisfying listen from start to finish which most fans even seem to admit.
Music Review: Anointed and Disjointed! Rating: 5 Stars
What more can be said? This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I bought it in Bethlehem, Pennsylvainia in the summer of '92 at Play it Again (on the advice of the mohawked store owner) and it truly changed my whole perception of music forever.
Oh yeah - reviewer Janitor X is a complete moron. He also gave Pavement's Crooked Rain, the Pixies Doolittle, and Beck's Odelay albums one star. Read his other reviews and you'll realize that he's one of those idiots you see driving a datsun pickup blaring Mastadon out the window. It must be weird to be retarded but not know it, huh? Sonic Youth loves Pavement by the way...
Music Review: PERFECT SOUND FOREVER... Rating: 5 Stars
This is THE Pavement album. It sounds nothing like any other Pavement albums that followed (and those are Mmm Mmm Good too!). I consider this the greatest album I have ever heard and the most artistic, expressionistic, hook-laden album that has ever entered my ears. This is the perfect indie rock album that set the standard...and will take something special to top it. And all the extra stuff? Brilliant, flawless, addictive. Need I say more? Throw out your radio friendly Creed and Blink 182, and buy this. Very few artists can ever achieve the greatness that this album (and band) ever possessed.
Music Review: Sound a bit bit like The Fall only not as good Rating: 3 Stars
Everyone wants to praise this album, but this is in fact, not as original sounding as some of the later Pavement albums. This album sounds like The Fall - lite. Every idea on display on this record was directly stolen from Mark E. Smith, a man with more talent in his pinky than SM and SS combined. The sound of this album is pretty enjoyable, after all it sounds like a lost Fall album. As for another reviewer who said that Pixies and Sonic Youth records haven't held up over time....hunh? Both of those bands in their prime were also much better than Pavement...especially The Pixies.
