Music Review: Pat will get the Grammy award of this year!
Rating: 5 Stars
This is really splendid ! Pat overcame "a cerebral aneurysm" operation of a head at the beginning of '80,
and illness of lungs of '97. He overcame 2 pinch by love of beloved wife Aya. Now he completely returns.
He greets the second heyday now. Pat surpasses Wes Montgomery whom he loves and respects,
on technique and feeling together when I listen to this work.
This album that pat tributes to Wes is full of love to respect to him as senior. At theme part of each music
Pat faithfully reproduces a performance of Wes. At a solo part, he develops original adlib.
Please listen to the first tune "FOUR ON SIX". Pat presents he original world while reproducing
a theme of Wes faithfully. My recommended music is 4. HEARTSTRINGS and 5. TWISTED BLUES.
4 is good to an image of a jacket photograph in a quiet ballad of Milt Jackson. 5 is feeling of speed music
by Wes composition. In this tune Pat plays a complicated cord change lightly. It is even a performance
to prove his present ability.
The members are David Kikoski (p), John Patitucci (b), Scott Allan Robinson (ds), Daniel Sadownick (prc).
In particular Scott of drums is a regular member of Pat for ten years, and breath just matches
two performances. Powerful drumming and correct technique are noteworthy.
Production Director and Recording Engineer is the third Japanese-Kirk Yano.
While pat remembers interchange with Wes with nostalgia, Kirk finishes it for a sound according to
an image to play affectionately. It not too intrusive at all, and the sound is a gentle wonderful sound.
I have a feeling that this album catches the Grammy award. It is such a splendid work.
I recommend this one with confidence !
