You'd think you were in an Irish pub, listening to this album -- it's just the artist and his guitar. Pat Kirtley's playing is pure and clean, if a little austere, and his sound is warm and friendly, as though he were playing for his closest family. Truly great fingerstyle guitar, of the magnitude of an Al Petteway or Doug Smith, but a unique style that somehow seems more original than either. Like another reviewer of this album, I wish more of Kirtley's work were readily available. Get it while you can.
