I'm very sorry to say, but Middle of Nowhere pretty much sucks....I tried my best to get into it, but all I'm left with is this silly dance CD that has nothing to do with the Orbital legacy. It's such an incredible shame, since all their old stuff is so much more compelling than this.....

The tracks are dancy. The tracks are upbeat. The tracks are so shallow it makes me want to cry. There's nothing here to parallel the deep moody brilliance of In Sides, or match the wild and daunting creativity of Snivilisation.

No. Orbital has said, "Nuts to our old style; let's do something wacky!" Instead of wonderful melodies and subtlety, we get things like "Spare Parts Express," with its random and jarring chorus. And "Nothing Left," with it's embarrassing robot-techno voice and horrible screeching metallic noises. And "Otono," which could have easily been the product of a teamup of Bjork and Massive Attack (*shudder*).

I don't know what happened here. Honestly, it makes me sad to see an album like this coming from the most brilliant artist on the planet. Pick up their older stuff, for it is truly better than this second-rate fare.
