Music Review: The "REAL" San Francisco treat

Being a native I always love hearing new tunes about my hometown. The title track on this CD "On A San Francisco High" chokes me up everytime I hear it. The lyrics take you through a musical journey from Union Square, to North Beach and Sausalito with a hip and sophisticated journey which will give you a clear and beautiful picture of SF. There are a couple of witty tunes - "In Marin" and "The Liberal Ladies of San Mateo" which shows the range of writing talent that Jerry Holland can express through his lyrical writing expertise. "Lovely to Be Lonely" is another hit which will tug at the heartstrings as well as "The Trouble Is" of which every woman can relate.
Sony's voice is sensational. She has a clear mix of vocal eloquency and pure deliverance with sometimes a touch of class and sometimes a touch of sass. She sings the songs effortlessly and with feeling.
This CD is not only a beautiful tribute to the Bay Area but an excellent compilation of original jazz tunes which in my opinion stand tall next to any jazz standards.
