Music Review: A "MUST!" ...especially at this price.
Rating: 4 Stars
OV Wright is definitely an undernoticed, underrated star of the soul genre. There are elements of Bobby Bland, Junior Parker, Sam Cooke and othres here; but Mr. Wright is distinctive in his "yearning" quality. On "You're Gonna Make Me Cry" he is broken by a turning point with his girl, yet, at the end he seems resolved to go on without her if he must. Most of these songs are about some emotional upheaval, and have interesting remarks about its consequences. The Gospel message message is usually not too far off, as the singer seems always deeply concerned with his moral witness. One real "oddball" here is the "Monkey Dog." Our whole family has had so much fun with this one! We all dance and play parts. The kids love it!
