Music Review: Starting to lose faith

The first time I listened to this album I was with a bunch of my buddies in the car. Within minutes, they all said (now mind you we are all musicians and know when something is off) "something doesn't sound right. What the heck is up with this album?'
I have been a fan of O.A.R. for years and they have been the source of my musical inspiration since the day I picked up an instrument. WHen I heard this album I was HUGELY disappointed. Granted, yes, a few songs on this album have some really awesome improvisions but I will be honest: it leaves me feeling empty. If you listen to their live at MSG album you can't help but have songs where you say to yourself "ooOoOo awesome solo comin up!" then crank up the volume. This album not so much. Solos seem empty and dry leaving you wanting more. I am unsure if the album was recorded in a certain way or what, but the instruments don't seem to punch. Almost flat if you will. Also, songs have been sped up quite a bit.
My other gripe is how certain songs are sung by Marc. Understandable that this was the last (or close to the last) show on the tour and his voice has probably taken a beating but he falls SERIOUSLY short hitting notes on certain songs. One example is "What Ever Happened." He comes no where near close to those high notes and is almost out of breath to the point certain words don't even come out of his mouth.
I am slowly losing faith in these guys. Their last 2 studio albums have completely lost their original vibe. I think it's time to jump ship.
