Music Review: Stay With Me - Norman Brown

STAY WITH ME is just what Norman Brown's fans will want to do after hearing the tracks on his fresh, funky debut for Peak Records. The prolific songwriter/guitarist takes a totally different approach from that heard on Just Chillin' by infusing his romantic, sexy vocals front and center on some of the best songs he's written. Joining forces with Paul Brown, and long-time collaborator Herman Jackson as well as inviting guest appearances by Brian McKnight and his BWB band mates - Kirk Whalum and Rick Braun - this CD exudes popular appeal with its emotional intensity and musical sophistication. Brown's guitar voicings are balanced and innovative but most of all, His Cool Smoothness puts these great guitar voicings in a social context.
