Music Review: Beautiful and Inspiring

"The Virgin's Lament" is some of the most beautiful Irish traditional and modern music ever heard. It is largely 'a capela' and shows the full range of the human voice. Most of the singing is by a lady in ancient Irish Gaelic. The songs are very beautiful, pure sounding, spiritually moving (even if you don't speak Gaelic), and sorrowful and uplifting at the same time. Definitely good music for meditation, healing, relaxing, Christmas (Yule), Easter (Ostara). The music and language seem to bridge the gap between ancient Irish culture and the takeover of Ireland by the Romans, and the imposition of the Christian religion over the religion of the triple Goddess Brighid - she of the smith's forge, grain, and poetry. Listening to the music, it's not hard to feel that the original traditional songs were in part inspired by (and possibly about) Brighid Herself.
