Music Review: Don't let this one SLIP away!!

I bought the five dollar download here on Amazon last spring. I am still very impressed with this ten track album. of the ten tracks, four of which are the slow tempo, 'still' like tunes...leaving the other six tracks to be hard, pumping, loud noisy rockers. Discpline was recorded on a Monday and playing on radio's by Wednesday (the same week).
Key tracks to listen for: Discipline, Head Down, Corona Radiata and Demon Seed. My favorite track is Head Down. All the songs have awesome lyrics, as only trent reznor could compose and portray. Very good music. An awesome unexpected Halo. I had no idea of its production around the time of the mp3 download. It IS overwhelming to think NIN's has releasedthree albums, many singles and remixes and the ghosts project all withing the same decade!!! Keep 'em comin' trent!!!

Given Reznor's horrid relationship with labels and production companies I would highly discourage anyone from paying for an album that Trent is freely giving away. Trent once had his own label and then had to disband it and even sue his business partner for impeding on his creative ownership. With recent bashing that CD's are a redundant and outdated form of mass production and consumption.
to me its only a matter of time before someone finds a way to corrupt the current record label thats producing and distributing NIN's newest Halo to which Reznor will once again have to fight for creative ownership of his own work.
Nothing against Amazon but if Trent is giving this away as a gift to his fans for all our years of dedication, I'd say we should just take him up on that.

i'm just starting to get into nine inch nails (i know i'm really late and i don't care). i started with downward spiral which i loved. then i downloaded this for free. this one is more "rocky" than downward spiral it sounds similar to year zero alot of great industrail drum machine jamz and some really cool ambiant tracks. most of the songs seem to have a really solid rock foundation with spacey dissonant synths parts floating in the distance, and it's a really great combo. i've been listening to it non-stop for three days now and haven't skipped a track. the song discipline is great, there's some cool "vocal fake outs" in it(listen to the song and you'll know what i mean). trent reznor is seriously a talented dude and i can't wait to see what he has in store for us next.Music Review: Great CD

This CD shows that Trent Reznor (Frontman of Nine Inch Nails) still has the creative mind to compose music worthy of our generation. Though over the recent years he has surely mellowed out in terms of hard-hitting loud and violent music, he is still creating melodies and lyrics that still define what Nine Inch Nails really is. The Slip is perfect for newcomers because of its short play time and catchy songs. The single "Discipline" is a wonderful example of his catchy songs that any fan of music would appreciate. "Echoplex" ends with a wonderful melody that might leave people humming it in their head. Unlike most Nine Inch Nails records this ends on a less slow ending with "Demon Seed" which has a mysterious meaning as to where Trent Reznor is taking his music in the future.Music Review: Great, but you can Download it for free from NIN website

This is one of Trents better albums since "With Teeth" that's come out recently. I never really considered myself a NIN Fan until he released his most recent work. All music is still hard and gritty with a couple melodic songs inbetween. Each album just seems to get better and better.
My only complaint is this. Unless you're really gung ho on getting the live DVD that comes with this limited edition, you can actually save money and download the whole album, FOR FREE off of the NIN website. All that is needed is your e-mail and the website will send you a confirmation code. It's great that way since then you can listen to the album and hey, if you don't like it, you can just delete it off of you harddrive and save the 18 bucks you would buying the CD.
