Music Review: Bow down to your Mistress, you've been very bad...

If you would, kindly go back to listening to your Limp Bizkit records and please leave this music alone.With that outta the way, let it be known that this is one of the more unusual and challenging electronic albums to come out in the past few years. It's a dark, quirky mix of jazz, old-school electro, and industrial that I don't think I've heard anywhere else lately. Yeah, the influences are obvious(Herbie Hancock, Igor Stravinsky) and any intellectual snob could dismiss it as derivative or unoriginal but the bottom line is there needs to be more women thinking like Nic Endo in electronic music, and music in general, for that matter. There are too many whack female DJs that are getting known simply because they are a female in a male-dominated genre (like most genres of modern music) and Nic Endo has effectively risen above this with her own unique style. At first, the title "Cold Metal Perfection" suggests something harsh, militant, and industrial (like most of the other Digital Hardcore she is known for) but, as the music sinks in it seems more like a portrait of a foxy android sex machine who's had enough of doing what she's programmed to do.
From the get-go, this record may seem difficult to many listeners. It may be confusing to people who are accustomed to certain approaches to electronic music or it may just appear to be a sloppy, lazy cop-out (this girl's techniques are very lo-fi (...)). However, upon repeated listening, it's clear how sullen, sexy, and sophisticated it really is. And for all you fellas out there that still aren't willing to recognize, Miss Endo happens to be a startlingly gorgeous babe, so go on and buy her frickin' album, already.
