Music Review: Out of The Night - Out of This World!!!

Words elude me - this 2 set CD is truly mystical. His voice and the music are, and this is no special order: Ethereal, haunting, joyous, sad, comical, playful, hopeful, wonderfully romantic, patriotic, grandiose in the best possible way. A celebration of talent, God given, but also worked at by Nelson very diligently all his life, always striving to be better with each song.

The selections truly show the range this remarkably gifted and talented man possessed. From a deep resonant baritone to what I consider a middle tenor, every note a "jewel" (to quote his own dialogue in "Naughty Marietta"!!!). I don't believe there is ANYONE before or now who has this range, voice quality, and soul. This 2 CD set is one you will find yourself playing all the time, and you will laugh, and cry, and your soul will be touched by his talent.

From the success of his duets with Jeanette MacDonald (JASMCD 2558, JASCD 143), to "Singing The Stephen Foster Songbook" (JASCD 421) comes this great new set from Jasmine showcasing one of the greatest musical film stars of the 20th century. Consisting of 54 tracks, most of which are debuting on CD along with sought after tracks "Great Day" & "Mule Train". Orchestral conductors include Hugo Winterhalter, Paul Weston and Robert Armbruster. Also featuring duets with pop star Jo Stafford and operatic diva Eleanor Steber.
