Music reviews of Country Grammar-NellyMusic Review: A Solid Freshman Album
Country Grammar is the first album by Nelly. This is an absolutely amazing debut by this artist. He is the biggest rapper coming out of St. Louis, that is for shore. He is also the leader of his own band named the St. Lunatics. Basically the only reason he released this was because the St. Lunatics were not getting over with the people. Most of the tracks are good and basically none of them are considered poor. St. Louie is a fun song to get started with, he wants to start off showing that he represents St. Louis and how they live down there. And that's exactly what they did. It is a great song and I respected Nelly from the first track that I heard. Greed, Hate, Envy, is a weird song that caught me off guard when I first heard it. I guess I had a style stuck in my head after hearin St. Louie. I don't know I still don't get into the song. But I don't hold it against him. I think it may be just me cause I know a lot of people who like this song. Country Grammar is the song that made this dawg famous. I knew the song before I got the album and it still reminds as like my second or third favorite song on the album. It's a very kool track by Nelly. And then once again he hits me odd with Steal the Show. In a way I respect him for trying different styles, but I don't find it necessary to do that on a Freshman album, not a strong song for the album. Ride wit Me, was one of my favorite songs when I first got the album and then it was released as a single and I was very dissapointed with the way the video was portayed of the song. I had it as one of the more serious songs on the album. But it aint a serious album. It is a fun, party album. It is defiantely more hip hop than rap. E.I. is my absolute favorite songs on this album and am kinda singing it to myself in my head as I write this. Easily my favorite songs on this album. If you don't get the album I definately reccomend picking up this single, aiight? And Jesus, man I guess it is every other track. I didn't care for Thicky Thick Girl, I mean I still listen to it when I listen to the album I definately prefer other songs though and kinda zone out while this one is playing. For My is an ok song that I Still aint into. My friends like it but I just don't get it. I dunno, maybe there is something behind this song that I just aint seeing it. Cuz I aint liking it. Ah well, Utha Side is another story. It aint a well known song but the song is tight and I give props to Nelly on that joint right there. It's pretty kool it's a bit more hardcore underground then the rest of the tracks on this album. On the other hand the very next track Tho Dem Wrappas can go to hell. I mean seriously. Might be the only song on the album they I REALLY don't like. Cuz I REALLY don't like the piece of garbage. Ah, well not even gonna type about it. Wrap Sumdem keeps up the trax in a row that are weak on the CD. I always tend to skip over this section until the next track which was a somewhat single named BATTER UP. It's a tight song, they tried to get it over as a single but it didn't work it so well. It starts off with the whole Jefferson's song and goes into a baseball game. I am surprised that the Batter Up track didn't get over cause it had a kool video too. Maybe it's cuz baseball aint exactly in right now. I don't know, but I thought it was really good. Never Let Em' See you Sweat continues in the streak of bad songs on this album. Unfortantely, sometimes I skip over Batter Up just cuz I know this song is next. It's not really all that bad but I tend not to listen to it while listening to the album. Luven Me is a great track!! Nelly gives props to his momz and all of the other people that made it possible to get him where he is today including the rest of the St. Lunatics. It's an emotional song, might be the only one on the album. And it was a great way to end the CD, and this review! HOLLA!
