Music Review: Un buen concierto nada mas

Bueno, los que conocemos a Neil Young, y nos enfrentamos a un titulo MTV Unplugged, nos extrañamos inicialmente, dado por el concepto anticomercial que el viejo siempre ha intentado liderar entre muchos otros musicos, tal vez porque respeta demasiado el concepto artistico auditivo al visual, y todas las demas cosas que se desprenden del uso exgeradamente comercial de los videoclips.
Ademas un disco Unplugged es uno mas del extenso catalogo folk-acustico, que el maestro nos tiene acostumbrados (Harvest, Harvest moon, algo de Freedom, algo de Rust never sleeps, algo de after the gold rush, aparte de muchos otros conciertos en los que Neil intrepreta parte de su catalogo electrico en acustico).
Nuestra percepcion es que para esta epoca (1993), los conciertos Unplugged estaban muy de moda y otros grupos legendarios como Aerosmith, R.E.M y Eric Clapton ya habian hecho este formato con muy buenos resultados.
Para este disco el maestro organizo un repertorio organizado de la siguiente manera:
1. Old Laughing Lady: De su primer disco solista. Excelente version mejorada de su original. Solo Neil con su guitarra.
2. Mr Soul: Pieza casi que infaltable en sus conciertos, data de su epoca en Buffalo Springfield, con otra version de las tantas que ha cantado.
3. World on a string: De Tonight's the night, muy similar al concepto original.
4. Pocahontas: Poco difiere de su concepto acustico original de Rust never sleeps.
5. Stringman: "Nueva cancion?" Tal vez, solo Neil con el piano.
6. Like a hurricane: Interesante version del clasico de American stars and bars. Para que no se extrañen es solo la voz de Neil con el organo.
7. Needle and the damage done: Respeta el cocepto original de esta balada de after the gold rush.
8. Helpless: Buena version de su clasico del Deja Vu y su reunion con Crosby Stills y Nash.
9. Harvest moon: Una nueva del album del mismo nombre. Similar a la version original.
10. Transformer man: Otra de las gratas revelaciones de este disco. Excelente version acustica de una cancion electronica, asi no les haya gustado la original, esta version segura les va a gustar.
11. Unknown Legend: Buen tema del harvest moon, fiel a su original.
12. Look out for my love: Del disco Comes a Time, una buena version del tema, a mi parecer mejor que el original.
13. Long may you run: Del disco homonimo con Stephen Stills, casi fiel a la version original.
14. From Hank to hendrix: La mejor cancion del disco, excelente version con el acompañamiento del acordeon, original del disco harvest Moon.
En terminos generales, un buen disco, pero faltaron un par de excelentes clasicos donde se hubiese destacado mas los acordes guitarreros como El Dorado, Too far gone, Rockin in the free world, Heart of gold, When you dance, Hey hey my my.
Por eso no deja de ser solo un buen disco......disfrutenlo, es mas para los fans casuales.

Based on past form ol' Neil should have been about ready to kiss off the sizeable audience he recaptured with Harvest Moon with an amp-shredding noisefest. Instead he aims to please here with vintage repertoire, the debut of a 1976 gem ("Stringman"), some tasty departures (the pump-organ "Like A Hurricane") and a heart-tugging "Helpless".
