Music reviews of Da Real World

Music Review: Da Real World is a definate hit in my book!!!
Rating: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Missy ever since her first album Supa Dupa Fly all the way to Under Construction. And this album is one of my favorites of hers. So without further adou here's my review of this album.

01. Mysterious [Intro] 8/10 - It doen't say or feature Timbaland on this intro. But for some reason I do believe it's Timabaland speaking on this intro.

02. Beat Biters 9/10 - On this song Missy is sick of people biting off their beats. She wants you to come up with your own creativtiy, own orginality, and your own style.

03. Busa Rhyme [featuring Eminem] 8/10 - What really stands out on this song is Eminem's verses. This song is before Eminem gained the popularity of fans and/or the media that he has nowadayz. And Missy & Em makes one great song.

04. All N My Grill [featuring Big Boi of Outakast & Nicole] 10/10 - The second single off this album. One of my all time favorite Missy songs. I really love the strings on this track. And Big Boi's verse is also hot!

05. Dangerous Mouths [featuring Redman] 8/10 - Now on this track Missy & Redman gives you lyrical content that should be reckoned with. The verses are very on point. And Missy shows
that she can also flow or rap very well.

06. Hot Boyz 10/10 - The third single off the album. She says this song is for the ghetto m*****f*****. Just about everyone knows this song. One of her biggest hits of this album. I just love this one.

07. You Don't Know [featuring Lil' Mo] 9/10 - This song is straight up he said, she said drama. Missy is mad that Lil' Mo is messin' wit her man. And Lil' Mo defends herself against Missy's accusations. And it all ends with a female throwdown.

08. Mr. D.J. [featuring Lady Saw] 10/10 - Actually Missy is one of the first artists to incorperate danchall with hip hop. On this track Lady Saw is featured well. And I love the beat and everything about this track is hot!

09. Checkin For You - Interlude [featuring Lil' Kim] 9/10 - On this interlude Lil' Kim gives you the defition of the word B***h. In two terms, see you gotta broke b***h and you gotta rich b***h. She classify her and missy as rich b****s , also she shout's out my girl Mary J. Blige. And the interlude ends with Missy singing.

10. Stickin' Chickens [featuring Aaliyah & Da Brat] 10/10 - This is actually the last song Missy & Aaliyah collaborated on before her death RIP AALIYAH. This song is about a man that is doing other girls before his actual girl gets home. So Missy, Aaliyah is puttin' that man on check.

11. Smooth Chick 8/10 - This song is remincent of She's A B***h, but it is different. The beat on this song is great. And Missy rhymes are tight on this one.

12. We Did It 8/10 - This song is basically about a man that's denying that he did it with a girl, but he actually did. So Missy is saying if you did it, then you did it, you don't have to lie.

13. Throw Your Hands Up - Interlude [featuring Lil' Kim] 9/10 - Another interlude from Kim on Missy's album. She's addressing to people who have a problem with them calling themselves a B***h. She explains that it's a strong word and only strong people should be classified as one. She's giving the word positve female impowerment.

14. She's A B***h 10/10 - The very first single off the album. I really love this song, one of Missy's best. The video for the song is something outta this world. And the beat and her rhymes for this song is incredible. Go Missy!!!

15. U Can't Resist [featuring Juvenile & B.G.] 9/10 - When this song was recorded. The Cash Money clique was tight with each other unlike it is now. It features 2 of the original Hot Boyz. This song is straight street, hood or ghetto.

16. Crazy Feelings [featuring Beyonce] 10/10 - A very beautiful ballad. This is actually Beyonce and Missy's very first collaboration. I really love this song, it's before Beynonce gained her mass popularity that she has now. The song is put together very well. It's an Missy Elliott classic!!!

17. Religious Blessings [Outro] 10/10 - This is an spoken word outro from Missy Elliott. Explains about being caught up in the fame and success of the Music industry. But without god you would'n be where you are. So in God we must trust.

*This is my favorite Missy Elliott album, it has so many firsts to it. Like it's the first time she collaborated with Eminem, Big Boi, Lil' Mo Lady Saw, Redman, Juvenile & B.G, and Beyonce. This album will always be a classic in my book. One of Missy's best album and also the best album of 1999!!!

Description of Da Real World

No Description Available.
Genre: Rap, Hip-Hop
Media Format: Compact Disk
Rating: PA
Release Date: 22-JUN-1999
Throughout the entirety of Da Real World, Missy Elliott is determined to redefine the meaning of the negative, female-targeted b-word (the album was originally going to be titled She's a Bitch). Inverting the term to represent a woman who knows what she wants, Missy exhibits her new attitude by aggressively showcasing her strong songwriting skills and superb vocal talents. Her lyrics are relatively simple, but perfectly complement the syncopated orchestrations of the often-imitated, never-duplicated producer Timbaland. Climactic strings dance around the voices of Missy, Nicole, and Outkast's Big Boi on "All N My Grill" and on "Busa Rhyme" a punctuating tone accentuates the dark confessions of featured MC Eminem. A plethora of guests pepper Da Real World, but the multifaceted Missy is never outshone. --Celine Wong
