Music Review: Well worth owning

This CD was much better than I expected.
I got to hear Mike Bloomfield live 6 times back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was, in my opinion, inspirational and amazing. However, I don't think he ever came through at his best in a recording and this one also falls a little short of being there in person.
It was recorded live in a ratty bar in the mid 1970's. God only knows how primitive the recording technology may have been. Bloomfield suffered from arthritis and heroin addiction. It affected his playing. Still, this is really, really good material. It is also one of the rare opportunities one will ever have to hear Bloomfield play slide guitar.
I'd like to congratulate the producer Norman Dayron for preserving this music. I'd like to congratulate the engineers who digitally remastered the original recordings. They did great and they probably didn't have much to work with.
If you liked Mike Bloomfield back in the day, you should really enjoy the album. If you are a student of the guitar, it I think it is especially worth listening to. Bloomfield was an unbelievably great guitarist, who has undeservedly faded from the public's memory in the 30 years since his death.
