Music Review: Funny Life

One of these year's excellent breakout albums, Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion is a perfect example of what pure fun pop candy is all about. While some might argue that Mika's voice is uncannily similar to Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters or his music is absolutely frivolous, Mika is undoubtedly ingenious and talented to produce an album wild with abandonment and totally not self-conscious.
Singles like Grace Kelly and Love Today bask themselves in Mika's falsetto, riotous beats, funky wailing and irrelevant lyrics. Mika gets a little cheeky on Lollipop with lyrics like 'sucking too hard on your lollipop, or love's gonna get you down.' Not to mention some of that 80's sensibilities.
Love it or loathe it! No in-betweens. (A)

i borrowed this cd actually from my girlfriend - was previewing it in her car- and i became instantly hooked on it when i listened to Lollipop :P
After much exploration during these 2 days , i fell in love with him!
He's a mix cross of The Beatles ( Billy Brown ), Beegees ( Relax - Take it easy) - thats what i thought...
Somehow, i loved his song which is Lollipop, Love Today, Relax (Take It Easy) ,Billy Brown, Big Girl (You are beautiful) - which is the tribute to all plus size big girls like me :P
My super super favourite is Stuck in The Middle - the music - the lyrics, the piano - even though its just simple chords but its so bold!!

Music Review: Wonderful discovery

I'm a straight guy, lives in the US and I've always dug the Scissor Sisters. I don't know any other guy who does who doesn't live in the Castro (SF, US). That said, I created a Scissor Sisters channel on Pandora and this artist named Mika kept showing up. Of course that's probably because I gave every song of his a thumbs up.
Finally, since I found Mika to be similar in vocals to Scissor Sisters, I had to buy the album (see RIAA! We do buy after sampling!). I love this album and it makes for a good fix in-between Scissor Sister albums.
Fun lyrics, upbeat music and just an explosion of good times like a mix between Queen and Elton and Scissor Sisters. If you like any of them, you'll enjoy Mika.
Music Review: Catchy, crazy and Fun! Totally Great!

I never had any interest in Pop music - finding it unimaginative and repetitive (when someone has a classical background - most pop music is boring) - however, when a friend gave me this CD as a gift - I listened to it and found it extremely fun. Absolutely refreshing. Maybe it has references to other artists - but the nice melodies, beautiful orchestration and some very wacky things that appear in some tracks are very very amusing (like the Grace Kelly sampled voice in "Grace Kelly"). This is probably not for the mundane, easy-listening customer and I found very impressive his astounding 5-octave vocal range. The tongue-in-cheek attitude is also fun - I don't know much about pop music, but I find this absolutely delicious.Music Review: Best of 2007!!!!

Wow, WOw, WOW!!! Where do I start? This is a brilliant CD from start to finish. Mikas voice and style are out of this world. From the moment I put this CD on my iPod and hit play I immdietlely fell in love with it. The style reminds me so much of Freddie Mercury (Queen) meets George Michael. With over the top dramaic sounds like Queen this CD pleases again and again and again.
I cannot go on enough about this release. It is a must have. It is so upbeat, fun and different. It has crazy hooks and melodies.
Every single song on here is hit worthy and stands out above anything that is out there right now.
You need to run to go get this CD - you will be so pleased!!!
