Music Review: Hebraic-Hibernianism at its best

Mick Moloney, in addition to his many other accomplishments, has become the preeminent curator of a nearly lost world of Irish-American music. His 2006 release (McNally's Row of Flats) brought back to life some of the compositions of the great Ned Harrigan (1844--1911), massively influential and famous in his time, but now almost completely forgotten. It's a great album, as is this new collection of songs that feature brilliant collaborations among various Irish and Jewish artists of the early Tin Pan Alley era. These songs are bursting with wit, vitality, and musical genius, and richly deserve their reinvention by Moloney and an all-star cast of musicians and singers.
