Music Review: But for AGNUS DEI, this is mostly light weight cheese.

There's a lot here that reminds me of the cookie cutter, over-produced soundtracks to the cheesey, grade B, coming of age "romps" that take place on a beach, in a high school etc. where the boys goal is to get the pretty girl(s). Cheesey, soaring guitar solos and the awful accent chords from an electric keyboard which is nothing more than a piano stripped of its warmth, soul and tonality offering only cold, electronically manufactured "sound" which makes anything it is included in nearly unlistenable. (GO WEST YOUNG MAN, LOVE CRUSADE, FOR YOU...)

PLACE IN THIS WORLD, and SEED TO SOW are O.K. based a lot on their lyrics. I find a nasal/whiney quality to Michael Smith's voice which makes it difficult to enjoy and makes me wonder what it would sound like if he were to sing from his diaphragm.

I'm giving this two stars based primarily on the emotional and beautiful AGNUS DEI, one of the most simple and wonderful songs of praise I've ever heard. I can't really recommend the rest.
