Music Review: Excellent music, as you'd expect from Michael Card

I love a lot of musical styles and artists, but Michael Card is among my favorite and most respected artists, as a person. Sure, his music is great. Yeah, his lyrics are fresh, deep, instructive, and Scripture-packed. But he backs them up with a godly life and a long legacy as a Christian artist. He also writes books and knows the Bible well, and that inspires his music. While some music is just entertainment, Michael Card is like a musical theologian.
When you have a musician who is often weaving Scripture into his music, and he comes out with an album called "The Word", you know you're getting something good. The liner notes are well littered with Scripture references, almost all from the Prophets (Isaiah-Malachi). The Prophets is a part of the Bible that many artists are quick to overlook, and that's sad since there's so much to be learned through their proper study.
I've sung "Then They Will Know" as a music special for church. Maybe "I Will Bring You Home", too - can't remember. I could write something nice about every song on here, but you're welcome to look up the lyrics yourself, or just buy it!

Michael Card has been around for a long time, and yet his CDs maintain their relevance and value. It's interesting to see how many more popular artists have albums that get bought and then sold used for 0.99, but Michael Card's seem to retain their value better. You might have to pay a little more for his albums, but they're worth every penny.
