Music Reviews of It's TimeMusic Review: Absolutely "Buble"icious! Rating: 5 Stars
Wow...I just have to say I absolutely love this cd. Every song is just wonderful. From the saucy "Save the Last Dance for Me" to country-esque "Home," this cd has a little bit of everything.
Now for those of you who like the song "Home," I must warn you. That is the only song on the entire cd that sounds country/pop. The rest of the cd is mellow jazzy tunes. So, if you're into "Home," I would check out the rest of the cd before you decide to buy the whole cd. But you won't be upset if you buy it!
I really like calming music with good lyrics, and this cd does it perfectly. I can listen to the entire cd through and through on my long trip home every weekend. And most of you can agree that you normally can't listen to an entire cd from start to finish. CD's these days just don't have great songs from beginning to end. But Michael Buble does it - and then some. I love the mellow, soothing sound of his voice. It's relaxing. Perfect for an outside bbq or a pool party. It really feels like summer when I listen to this cd.
Buy this cd, you'll love it and get hooked!!
Music Review: ALBUM OF THE YEAR Rating: 5 Stars
So it's still the beginning of the year. However, this crooner is as talented and heartfelt a male singer as there ever has been. The disc includes 1 song co-written by Mr. Bubl`e, and it's outstanding: "Home." Chances are good you've heard it on the radio.
The remainder of the tracks are pop standards, beautifully arranged by David Foster. While Foster is hit-or-miss, (listen to the extreme power schmaltz of JOSH GROBAN) He nails this swing/big band sound for Bubl`e. The covers range from "I've Got You Under My Skin," to the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love," and it's amazing how this guy makes them sound as though they have the same composer. Other uptempo standouts are the opening track, "Feeling Good," and the stunningly arranged " Save The Last Dance For Me." Just listen to that voice soar at the end of that one. Nothing uptempo can compete with the ballads. Along with the aforementioned, "Home," he makes "You Don't Know Me," the Ray Charles hit, and Leon Russell's "Song for You," his own. Again, credit Foster for not overdoing these ballads, as is often his penchant. A truly brilliant CD.
Music Review: Michael Buble's Best Album Yet Has A Serious Flaw Rating: 3 Stars
This is a terrific album, probably the singer's best yet. I forsee a big future for this young man, and have bought all of his albums. I would have given "IT'S TIME" five stars except for the problem described below.
There is one serious flaw in this album that you might want to know about: due to Warner Brothers' (the parent company of Reprise) heavy-handed anti-piracy programming, "IT'S TIME" will not play on a computer, and therefore cannot be uploaded into iTunes and recorded onto an iPod or other such MP3 player. For many people, this is the primary (and completely legitimate) way they use to listen to their CD collections - I've got over 500 albums on my iPod.
In other words, Warner Brothers' solution to the very real and serious problem of music piracy is to turn around and steal from its customers their legal right to listen to the album on an iPod or on their computer. Whether this tactic is legal or not, I feel very strongly that it isn't right, and does this excellent young singer no service, let alone his many fans.
Music Review: A Swinging Crooner for our Generation Rating: 5 Stars
I really adore this album. It has a nice mix of slow ballads and swinging big band standards. My favorite song was written and composed by Michael and is called "Home." It actually has a more mainstream sound to it, but shows his versatility as a singer. This is because he shows he isn't just an old soul crooner, but can pull off contemporary music as well.
His big band classics make me want to get up and dance without a care about how ridiculous I may look. (Careful - his music can have that effect on a person!) And he has this wonderful ability to take any cover song and make it his own. His remakes take on a new life and his techniques are ingenious.
Michael has one of those unique, mellifluous voices that warm the cockles of your heart, especially when he sings ballads. I think he is the equivalent of Frank Sinatra for our generation. He has managed to modernize music that spans over half a generation, yet stays true to the genre and musical integrity of the classics.
Music Review: This is good music Rating: 5 Stars
It's Time is a pleasure to listen to. Michael Buble is a very talented singer. He sounds like the Frank Sinatra of the 21st century. He even covers the classic Sinatra song I've Got you Under My Skin superbly. He also covers the Beatles hit Can't Buy Me Love here, and he gives it a pleasant lively spin. My favorite track is Home though. It is an excellent song about being away from someone you love and longing to be with that person. Another highlight track on this CD is the duet with Nelly Furtado Quando Quando Quando. It is a very romantic song about two people in love. I also enjoyed the song Feeling Good. It is an optimistic song of renewal. This track has a nice jazz sound to it, that I really liked it. Try A Little Tenderness is a pretty song. It is a reminder to show a little compassion and tenderness to someone who needs it. Buble's voice is so soothing especially on a song like You Don't Know Me. This song is so relaxing. I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys good music.
