Music Reviews of Call Me Irresponsible

Music Review: The best is yet to come... I believe you, Michael!
Rating: 4 Stars

Michael Buble's first two albums introduced us to him and his genre... he brought swing back, at least to many of us for whom swing was the stuff of decades ago. With this album he expressed his desire to make it different and yet something he'd be proud to give his listeners, and I think he has succeeded. Call Me Irresponsible sees Buble putting his own spin on old classics and ballads, and adding a few of his own compositions.
For those who've become accustomed to the sound of his first two albums and are doubtful of hearing something new, as I was, listen to this with an open mind. With bossa nova, acapella, Latin flavours, R&B and even a gospel choir in the mix, this album is innovative and diverse, yet still very much the Michael we've come to love, and more definitive of his direction as an artist. With focus and versatility like that, it's not hard to believe that for Buble, the best is yet to come.

Music Review: Lisp/slur is a big problem
Rating: 3 Stars

I've listened to the CD a few times and like it - IF I don't listen too closely. "Everything" is great and is getting some radio airplay - nice for MB! This guy KNOWS how to swing! BUT the lisp/slurring on "I've Got The World On A String" is completely weird and really interferes with enjoying the song. The same problem is present on other tracks but not as prevalent.

This is completely baffling! How did they let these tracks out of the studio like this? Were the producers asleep in the headsets? If he has a speech impediment, I haven't noticed it before AND it isn't consistent throughout the album. Punch in, guys. (Now his slurry, sub-par American Idol performance makes more sense......)

I really like MB - "Home" is one of my favorite songs - but this album isn't as good as It's Time and now, with "World on a THTWING" (ETC.), I can't listen with much pleasure. Sorry, Michael.

Music Review: Yes, he really has got talent!
Rating: 5 Stars

First off, Michael Bublé is one talented guy. His vocals are amazing, no matter what style he's going for. And he's great at chosing songs that will really showcase his talent. My favorites: "It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera)", "Me and Mrs. Jones", "Lost" (self-penned... AMAZING!), "Call Me Irresponsible" (he's so good at the jazz-y stylistic stuff!), and "Always On My Mind", but it's not really saying much to single these few out because I love every one of the songs on the album (and all of his albums, actually). It's full of more of the good stuff that he had going on in It's Time. Just a guy singing songs that you can't resist loving, whether that means snapping your fingers to the beat of a fast number or smiling sentimentally while Michael croons away in the background. And he really is a pretty darn good singer, which is saying a lot in our life and time.

Music Review: The music on this CD is cool , smooth and groovy
Rating: 5 Stars

I love this new CD from Michael Buble. My favorite track is "Everything". It is a very upbeat and romantic song. "The Best is Yet to Come" is such a fun optimistic song. All of the instruments compliment Michael's vocals well on this song. "Me and Mrs Jones" is another standout track. Michael's vocals on this song are very smooth and enjoyable. I love his rendition of this classic song. "Lost" is a sad song. It has a beautiful tone though, and I really like it. "Comin' Home Baby" is an uptempo track. Boyz II Men lend their vocal talents on this track. This track sounds so groovy. "Always On My Mind" is another excellent track. The piano playing by David Foster is very pretty here. "It Had Better Be Tonight" is an up tempo high energy track that makes me get up and dance. The music on this CD is very entertaining. I recommend this CD to anyone who loves music.

Music Review: Call It Irresistible
Rating: 4 Stars

Mr. Bublé's latest record has once again proved to be another album full of quality and quantity. "Me and Mrs. Jones" is one of the best cuts from the album. Although his voice is stellar, some of the arrangements could have been rethought. "Dream" is an example of this, Nevertheless, Michael Bublé continues to be the one voice you never tire of. He also seems to be one of a select few on the music scene who have any real talent. It's also great to see an album and an artist produced in 2007 that does not have to lower itself to the level of filth and vugalarity. It's about time someone brought back some decent music. I heard him sing "This Guy's In Love With You" in concert once. I do hope there is the possibility of that song making it onto an album or single in the near future. A must for any fan of good music.
